Laurel Geddes was born and raised in Southern California. She acquired native fluency in Spanish through immersion while living and studying in Argentina and Spain. After pursuing a degree in Spanish and Studio Art at the University of California, Santa Barbara, she worked as a Spanish-English interpreter/translator for four years. These experiences gave her a high degree of sensitivity to international consumers and markets.

While studying at the University of Barcelona, Geddes began to frequent Starbucks cafés, which reminded her of home and provided her with a quiet, comfortable place to study. Back home in California, triple Lattes and Caramel Macchiattos helped her power through all-nighters for design projects at Art Center College of Design.

She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, with an emphasis in package design and brand identity development from Art Center in 2012. How ironic that her favorite hangout abroad and at home has become her career: she is currently a designer in the Global Creative Studio at Starbucks corporate headquarters in Seattle, Washington.
