Hi! I’m a printmaker, surface and graphic designer, looking for freelance work or licensing opportunities. My experience includes fashion graphics, textile pattern design, stationery design, hand-lettering, illustration, typography, editorial layout, logo, branding design, teaching, and lots of hand-crafting skills. I have a passion for art and design history, especially textile design history. I love to combine my handmade aesthetic with digital design skills.
Work Experience
Morris & Essex
Designer, Creative Director, Printmaker
I have a small business, designing and hand-printing sustainable paper and textile goods including handmade bamboo scarves, letterpress greeting cards, enamel mugs, and organic cotton canvas tote bags, among other goods. I design everything and produce most of it in my own studio, collaborate with a few other local artisans, and a few items are carefully sourced from sustainable producers in the USA and Europe.
Over the past 10 years this project has evolved from a weekend hobby into a busy wholesale and retail business. I'm currently working to downsize and transform Morris & Essex into a smaller, more sustainable craft business. I love working with my hands and thinking about how to use my design and creative skills to move towards a more environmentally and socially sustainable way of living, working, and dressing. I am working to re-focus my energy into more craft and fewer sales, using salvaged and repurposed materials to create beautiful, functional and compelling hand-crafted scarves. I'm finding this business model is more creatively and ethically satisfying for me, and leaves me with more time to spend with my family and to take on freelance and custom design projects.
