Born in Brooklyn New York, Ed Hernandez is a first generation son of Puerto Rican immigrants; he emerged from that city as an artist influenced and inspired by the works of George Hurrell, Irving Penn, Clarence Bull and Richard Avedon. These icons of Hollywood and fashion photography created bold images representing a golden era, Ed's photographs have this same boldness and presence. Other sources of inspiration include James Cameron's Avatar, film noir, and the paintings of Edward Hopper, Americana, the American dream, and the photographs of Walker Evans.

Ed is a non-traditional student and Lifelong Learner, with undergraduate degrees in Graphic Arts, from Valencia College, Organizational Communication from Rollins College, and Master of Arts in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Currently he works as Graphic Arts Coordinator for Orange County Public Schools, he is also the owner and principal photographer of Ed Hernandez, professional photography studios.

His work has appeared in numerous magazines, in a number of national publications and is held in public and private collections. His work is now following a path, which blends graphic arts with photography, creating photographic works which are accessible and that speak a language understood by large audiences. Subsequently refining his own visual and conceptual vocabulary that emerged through his focus on the points of intersection between surrealistic montage and temporal analysis, making sense out of non-sense by altering reality quality, which is inherent to photography, because it slice out instants in time, removing them from their original context. In his photographs the clue to reality is the authenticity established by the patina of the artifacts used as props.

Since 1998 I have provided my graphic design solutions, photographic work and brand development services to many industries throughout the country, including hi-tech corporations, entertainment companies, healthcare providers, cosmetic, publishers and transportation organizations, among others. It would be my pleasure to collaborate on your project and contribute to your success. Read Less
