American Psychiatric Association Fellow Dr. Gregg Gorton will begin teaching medical students at the Temple University School of Medicine in November, 2015, when he joins the faculty there. He formerly practiced as a staff physician at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, treating patients with psychiatric illnesses ranging from trauma-related disorders to various forms of addiction. In addition to providing health care to individuals at the VA, Dr. Gregg Gorton supervised a number of physicians completing their residencies through the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.

Away from his professional responsibilities, Dr. Gregg Gorton pursues his passion for ornithology and leads bird walks and does bird surveys. Since 2094 he has been researching the life and work of Ted Parker in order to write a biography of that noted Neotropical ornithologist. Dr. Gorton holds membership with the American Ornithologists’ Union, the American Birding Association, and the Delaware Valley Ornithological Club. He received the Witmer Stone Award from the latter for his writing on birds. Read Less
