Managed graphic design department. Designed and managed all forms of brands, packaging, collateral and advertising for international, national and regional bakery products. Created, designed and collaborated with creative team on promotional campaigns and contests. Supported sales team by developing sales sheets (photography, digital mock-ups, trend research, copy writing) and presentations. Oversaw design concepts through final production including creative direction and management of staff and web designers. Brainstormed with R&D, Marketing and Sales to develop new product ideas, names and marketing strategies. Expertise in FDA packaging laws, food styling and printing processes (flexo, corrugated / paper box, offset, digital). Developed and managed budgets and corporate trademarks. Made sales calls and worked with customers and vendors. Package design clients included: The Kroger Company, Costco Wholesale, Safeway, Franz Family Bakeries, Wild Oats Markets, Holsum Bread, Horizon Milling Canada, Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Target and Sam’s Club. Package designs and illustrations currently reach 200,000 homes weekly in Northwest alone.
• Managed from start to finish all areas of package design from initial concepts, presentation to customer, final revisions and proofs, sign-offs, files to printer, press checks and delivery deadlines for product rollouts. Met all deliverables and timelines.
• Coordinated and managed package variations for different regions, including ingredient statements, certifiers (both Kosher and organic) and FDA claims for customers including Kroger, Costco and Safeway resulting in flawless roll-out and maintenance of national products.
• Mastermind, designer, director of bakery sales incentive promotions.
• Designed packaging for most successful bread introduction in Costco Southern California.
• Initiated ideas, names and designs that resulted in new brands developed and marketed in United States and internationally.
• Consistent rapid turn-around in last minute requests for sales materials, mock ups and displays which resulted in product sell-in to Costco, Safeway, Franz and AAFES.
• Photographed and designed recipe books and national sales catalogs. Wrote compelling copy for packaging, advertising and marketing sales pieces. Problem solved brand quandaries to re-invent or re-invigorate strategies.
• Conceived idea, illustrated images, designed packaging and made presentations to regional bakeries for line of products with names of locations as variety names that resulted in sales to 5 new bakeries across continental United States and Hawaii.
• First to employ process printing on poly bags for bread packaging and targeted use of health claims resulting in new trends and standards in industry.
