As a graduate student at Columbia University, Daniel Hewes completed a community affairs fellowship under Sen. Daniel Squadron. His responsibilities in this capacity ranged from serving as the contact point for district events to interfacing with municipal agencies to resolve constituent cases.

He received a bachelor’s degree in environmental and urban studies from Northeastern University. Furthering his education, he earned a master’s degree in urban planning from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation. His thesis detailed his research in the area of community-led disaster planning.

Active in the community, Daniel Hewes holds membership with a number of organizations, including the American Planning Association, and the Museum of Modern Art. He also regularly donates to the Salvation Army and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Read Less
