Christopher Cheng

Graduate Teaching Intern, Graduate Program Assistant

Baltimore, MD, USA
I am interested in human experiences. I believe that everyone has a purpose in life and that the right to be who we are in society is a universal right. I find that our society pressures us into conformity and suppresses our inner selves. As a Gay Asian-American male, I have found that labeling identities can be limiting and that our purpose in life is about the journey in exploring who we are. My personal experience has inspired a strong conviction in me to find more about what it means to be an individual. I use sound, photography, and video to create installations that reveal the tension and conflicts in the human experience. Through these explorations I allow us to come to the realization that we are not alone in this world and that we all struggle to find ourselves.
