Candice Johnson

Freelance Graphic Designer at Head in the Clouds Design

Cape Town, South Africa
I am a creative. I am inspired by colour, enthralled by the visual aspects of life & find satisfaction in a beautifully orchestrated piece of design. It is in all these things that I find my inspiration & motivation as to why I became a graphic designer.

I aspire to a world in which I can explore & experiment with my raw talents, hone in on my skills as a designer & constantly learn more about the field in which I find myself working. I believe that learning is the key to growth & to be vigilant in a world of ever-changing design is a skill I hope to improve as the years of experience increase.

I am a hard-working, determined individual with a passion for the creative side of life. My world revolves around this & continues to inspire the person that I am. I am a very approachable & easy-going person. People tend to pick up on this as they don’t find it difficult to communicate with me; nor do I find it difficult communicating with others. After all, is communication not what graphic design is all about.

I live by honesty, respect, punctuality & always getting the job done.

Work Experience

Head In The Clouds Design

Freelance Graphic Designer

Working in the world of freelance graphic design with Head in the Clouds Design, I have gained invaluable experience as an individual graphic designer. Over and above the actual design work, I have had the chance to deal with various clients, their needs and expectations, business accounts and many different types of business administration.

Specialising in the fields of graphic design and illustration, I look forward to expanding my skills as a creative and as a designer in some new and exciting creative spaces. Some of these involve becoming a personal stylist, an events coordinator and one day, reaching my ultimate goal of opening my very own, coastal bakery.

I may have my head in the clouds, BUT THAT IS WHERE IMAGINATION & CREATIVITY HANG OUT.

Creating A Storm

Junior/ Middle Designer

At the beginning of 2012, I began my career alongside a very prominent Graphic Designer named Storm Wiggett. After working in the industry for a couple years, Storm opened her own business. As a junior, I worked with Storm on many of her accounts, putting my newly earned degree to work and learning as much as I possibly could.

It was a year filled with many depths of design where I learnt several new and exciting skills as well as improved those which I already possessed. These included design, packaging, photo editing, conceptual thinking, copywriting and best of all, getting artwork ready for print I.e. Final Art. I have come away from my first year with an exceptional amount of experience and designer savvy which I believe will be my defining feature in my next position.
