BYPASS is a nomadic editorial and curatorial project, founded in 2007, in Lisbon, by Álvaro Seiça and Gaëlle Marques. The project arose with the aim of disseminating and promoting young authors and establishing a real dialogue between different cultures and artistic/theoretical areas.

BYPASS is a hyperdisciplinary publication on creation and theory. It is annual and bilingual: English and Portuguese. It presents a contemporary theme, which is appropriated by authors of different nationalities and domains: visual arts, literature, art theory, architecture, music, philosophy, dance, design, cinema, jewellery design, theatre, illustration, astrophysics, and performance arts. BYPASS #1 was launched in 2009, with the theme "Architecture" and BYPASS #2 in 2010, with the theme "The Infinitely Small and the Infinitely Large".

In 2011, a new editorial label was born, BYPASS Editions, with the purpose of publishing monographs, catalogues, artists' books, fiction, poetry, essays, and yet-to-name genres.

BYPASS is also a colective that curates exhibitions, performances (eg jazz and poetry sessions), public talks and book launches at art galleries, museums, bookshops, theatres, art fairs, and cultural institutions.

Since its foundation, the project has received prizes, grants and established partnerships with several institutions, such as the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (2009), Camões Institute (2009), Appleton Square Gallery (2009-onwards), VOLTA NY art fair (2009-onwards), University of Évora (2009-2010), The Portuguese Ministry of Culture/The General Directorate for Book and Libraries (2010), The Foundation for Science and Technology (2010), S.
