I came to faith in Christ in my early 30s. I was not raised in the church, so as I gain understanding and knowledge of who God truly is, I can see ever more clearly that my past was very dark before Jesus. I earnestly sought God for the first time in my life when the man I had planned to marry became terminally ill with cancer (he died after about a year and a half of being sick, but that feels like it happened a lifetime ago to me now). Before Jesus, I had always considered myself agnostic – I was as close to being an atheist as it was possible to get without completely giving up hope that God might exist because, as far as I knew, God's existence could neither be proved nor disproved. You can't imagine how shocked and amazed I was when it was Jesus who revealed himself to me as God. My mind at that time was so darkened that absolutely nothing could have convinced me that Jesus was God apart from God Himself. But God did bless me with that understanding and it has changed everything for me. To say “I am changed” is an understatement to great for me to express in words. I barely recognize who I once was. There can be no denying that the person I was is dead and gone and that who I am now, though I am a work that is still in progress, is a result of God's hand on my life and on my heart.

Personal Ministry

In my personal ministry, I am passionate about putting together imaginative play kits and craft kits for children for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes through Samaritan's Purse. I feel led to make prayer a strong focus and to assist with disaster relief efforts when situations arise where that's needed. Most recently, I helped with my church's LovingLee food drive during the pandemic and helped sew face masks for church members and for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. I have served as a secretary for my life group in the past. Also in the past, I led a committee to assist with a local children's home, served alongside Samaritan's Purse when they were based at my church during hurricane Irma, assisted with Operation Christmas Child activities, volunteered with our preschool ministry and helped/assisted/served during many other church activities (especially with our singles ministry). I have a heart for immigrants and persecuted Christians. I have served in the past with a local ministry called ECHO, which helps provide lasting solutions for hunger and poverty for farmers around the world. I have also occasionally served with Compassion International.
