Recruited by Jacob Gutman, Asha Pabla began her career in the garment industry with the woven fabric and textile design sourcing company, Pressman-Gutman. She assumed a position as a manager within three months of hire and directed the design and production of fabrics sold in retail stores across the country. Subsequently, Asha Pabla joined Miliken & Company, where she managed 45 production workers on three lines. Under her supervision, the lines consistently met deadlines while attaining leading company ratings for fabric quality.

Building on her experience in textile manufacturing, Asha Pabla served as a fashion designer at the New York City office of Liz Claiborne. She worked with design teams to create garments frequently selected for inclusion in retail production runs. Along with sourcing the fabrics for her designs, she maintained quality control over such elements as stitching, color saturation, and shaping.

Ms. Pabla possesses an associate degree in interior design from the Parsons School of Design and a bachelor’s degree in textile design and interior design from Philadelphia University. A collector of handmade jewelry fabricated by women in developing countries, she also supports the livelihoods of crafts workers as a volunteer for both the League of Artisans and Aid to Artisans. Among her personal interests, Asha Pabla enjoys attending musicals, listening to Itzhak Perlman, and taking ski trips to the Rustler Lodge in Alta, Utah. Read Less
