Canadian born artist Ambrose Thompson’s work depicts a contemporary merging of natural aesthetics with European Constructivism. Visionary in his depiction of dimensional detail while profiling stylized color, Ambrose reflects a joining of infinity in space within the confines of contemporary realism. Presently residing in Florida, Ambrose, the artist, has always wanted the work to speak for itself. I believe it already has.
Profile of an Artist
B. Nemati, 2015

Bio:
Emerging artist Ambrose Thompson was born to American parents on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Moving from West Coast rain forests to snowy mountains of Pennsylvania at a young age imprinted on his brain how different the world is experienced depending on where you live and who you are believed to be. Perhaps it was the culture shock of a new country and a new dialect, but Ambrose always felt like an outsider looking into or through to a world deep under glass.

Born into an artistic family, he was surrounded with art supplies from the time he could hold a crayon and was always left to his own devices to find out what different mediums had to offer. It wasn't, however, until the days of college, when Ambrose was introduced to computers, as his parents were nigh-on Luddites, that the power of the digital world intermixed with art opened his eyes to a whole new way of expressing what he felt and saw internally.

Ambrose made his debut on the art scene in New York City showcasing his unique style in a series of group art shows at the Theater for the New City and Tompkins Square, and in a solo show at the 7th & Second Gallery. Today he lives with his wife (his muse) and two cats in Southern Florida where he continues to explore the depths of Natural Constructivism.
