Adam Corcoran

Lead Design Strategist

Melbourne, Australia
I'm a passionate and curious designer, photographer and researcher. I've always been fascinated by the innate ability of humans to design better ways of experiencing the world from their own lived experience. This is what drives me in my professional life as a Lead Design Strategist at Portable, and it keeps me driven in my creative pursuits outside of work too.

Work Experience

RMIT University

Sessional Lecturer

As a sessional lecturer for RMIT's Extending Communication Design Expertise programme, I was responsible for creating and delivering an intensive course in design for social impact.

Over two lecturers and eight tutorials, I shared my knowledge of the mindsets and principles of human-centred design, design thinking and co-design, and instructed students in embracing the practices and skills of design research, strategic design, experience design and service design. Students were asked to answer three, interconnected briefs centred on a self-selected prominent social issue in Singapore through group work and individual work.

This resulted in students delivering design research findings to make the case for change, stakeholder and user mapping artefacts to map the problem being addressed, and low-fidelity prototypes of service or digital experiences that could answer design challenges raised in the design research.
