Data Center Capacity Planning requires the ability to visualize projected gaps in capacity well in advance, and required a highly actionable interface for mitigation. The developed design gave users the ability to quickly navigate between data and map views, toggle layers of information, and dive swiftly to highly specific charts and diagrams. The breadcrumb navigation, when expanded, also functioned as a complex mega-menu, making key metrics for each reason instantly available from any page.

Much of the information captured by visualization had previously been presented in Excel documents which required manual updating and didn't reflect real-time data. Users had to look at multiple sources to pull together information necessary to make decisions about how to plan for upcoming demands on power, capacity, networking and capital. By creating a geo-visualized navigation, augmented with an "At a Glance" panel (at right) that  captured key metrics for the area navigated to, multiple facets required for making key capacity decisions were displayed in a single view.
