I grew up watching "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" and I wanted to create a design that referenced Pee-Wee's belief in that movie that his stolen bike was hidden in the basement of the Alamo in Texas. In addition, I put a lot of work into making the bike, that I reused it for a bonus design referencing the outrageous amount of money Pee-Wee claims that he will reward the finder with. This project was a delicate balance of trying to have a lot of detail, but at the same time avoiding having everything covered in shadows and highlights because I felt it would distract and detract from the playful attitude in the movie.
