This photography work demonstrates the visual processes of female body forms by conducting experiments with projected optical stripes. The research was done on the visual impact of optical illusion and understanding the female body; it’s perceptual psychology and feminine context. The discovery of the ideal image of the perfect female body has a pervasive influence on women’s consciousness and first creates conflict during puberty. Stripes are often used as a tool to modify the shape, height, width and curves of the female form. However in the field of striped patterns, which pays attention to the principle of ‘eye looks’, the striped patterns control how the body is seen.

My aim is to understand how stripes affect how we perceive the female body and how this interacts with notions of the ‘ideal female form’. My statement of intent is to further explore the visual effect of stripes on the female body through experimentation. And I also want to question the commonly held beliefs of how stripes impact on the female body.
