Barbara Kruger Outcomes

These outcomes are inspired by the work of Barbara Kruger, who made screen prints overlayed with bold declarative statements to support and emphasise the conceptuality of her work, where she dived into the the construction of gender and identity in society and how, mass media constructs how we as individuals portray ourselves as our unique self.

Overall, I really enjoyed this process and the outcomes. It really suits the conceptuality behind my work, and I feel as though it is a good form of working that allows me to combine the workings of digital photography and transforming these images into physical pieces. I feel as a next step for this work, if I choose to progress it further, is to clean the screens in between each print as the ink began to dry up and seep into the screen and in turn making the prints more faded than they should be, as it is pretty clear in some of these prints the images are more faded than others and this is due to the process of ink drying up, for some images I did deliberately try and have this effect, as a way of investigating similar subject matter such as Andy Warhol and the talk of mass consumerism, and how the prints being printed over and over until the image basically looses all meaning is representative of a semantic satiation within society, in relation to the construction of gender and the representation of women in modern society.
