Great Falls National Park outside of Washington DC is a haven for birds, and a popular birdwatching place. In the spring and summer, great blue herons fish around the falls. I was able to capture this gracefully yet lonely blue heron against the violent rapids of the Potomac River after a summer flood with a slow shutter speed of about 0.6 seconds.
