One School At a Time Project Space
Of the 27 000 schools in South Africa, 22 000 are rated dysfunctional. One School at a Time is a registered Non Profit Organisation intent on fixing this. In an environment where almost half are parentless, it is hard for the children to stay positive about their futures. They do not believe in themselves and their ability to create a better future.
OSAAT’s wanted to inspire children to feel like they can do great things, no matter where they come from.
Project Space aimed to do this. We got Cosmonaut, Gennady Padalka to record a message inside the International Space Station, inspiring the school children at OSAAT’s partner school, Forte High in Soweto, to reach for the stars and follow their dreams.
We then broadcasted this message on popular talk station Radio 702, on Friday 17 April. The children gathered around radio’s in their classrooms that were tuned into 702. They listened to the Cosmonaut, talking directly to them, through the radio. In doing so, we inspired these children to reach even higher, and believe that they can achieve anything.
