During the outbreak of covid-19, I was lucky enough to be locked down in my native village in Coimbatore, which is filled with coconut farms and textile mills. With this unlimited resource of coconut tree at hand I started making products out by weaving coconut leaves and cleaning coconut shells. Here are some products that stayed longer with me.
Couple dolls made out of immature coconut shells.
Ambient hanging light made by heat punching holes on a half shell.
Jewellery holder - Acrylic painted coconut shells placed on a wooden stand.
Stationary holders - combined two different shells to make a pen stand and hand-painted pin holder.
Left - tools sourced from nearby textile mills to clean and shape coconut shells.
Right - clear lacquer and acrylic paint used to decorate the products.
