The Price of Everything

Everything we own has a value. The dress am wearing cost me 1000 bucks. My scooter comes with a price tag, and don’t even get me started on rent.
We lose things and most times put it off as, ‘ It just costs so n so…’. How many times have we let our friends “borrow” our stuff, and to never lay eyes on it again.  Even then we just dismiss it, and buy what we need again.
But think about it! Say my headphones cost me 3000, and that’s a fraction of my bank balance. But that is 3 days worth of work to me. That’s close to 30 hours of my time and effort and that is a huge investment! For me to be at work and to earn so much my parents have put in their efforts. For them to afford to raise us in good financial conditions, their parents have put in their efforts and so on. What we have today is the accumulated benefits of generations of efforts, which is just mind blowing!
If we just stopped looking at the monetary value and start seeing the incredible amount of work we put into it, maybe, just maybe we would start respecting our belongings. And maybe we would make sure others respect them too…
