“BREAK” is a concept developed to improve people’s activity levels. Monitored through a wristband, widget and app,
that help identify and encourage positive behaviour, to reduce the negative impacts of long term sedentary lifestyle.
The branding uses light neutral colours, playful imagery and an overall fun and cheeky tone to avoid common workplace campaign dullness.
Developed and designed with Beth Fernon, Jane Roberts and Fiona Lewis in 2013.
Implemented by the workplace this application connects with the employees’ wearable device to help deter a sedentary lifestyle.
The app helps calculate the best frequency of breaks you should take during the day, vibrating to remind you to get up and move about.
If lacking in motivation, Break also provides users with incentives to move around such as through earning discounts at local business for
high step counts and connecting with friends to encourage team efforts, as well as letting them know when your nearby & ready for a break.

Users can reflect on their progress through graphs and data collected to visualise their movements.
All app data can also be accessed online for users to see how they are tracking.
Staff and employers are both supplied with a guide on how to implement and make the most out of the system.
