Raise Funds with Challenge for Charity

Timothy (Tim) Shields is a director at UBS in Chicago, Illinois, where he leverages his financial and technological expertise. Before taking on his current role at UBS, Tim Shields earned his MBA from Stanford University, where he was involved with the school’s Challenge for Charity, or C4C.

C4C was created at Stanford but has since evolved into a nonprofit organization that aims to help future business leaders develop a deep connection with community involvement and social responsibility. Today, there are C4C chapters at nine top MBA programs on the West Coast.

C4C hosts a weekend of competition that includes sports events, a dance competition, and a battle of the bands. The school with the best attendance at the weekend events plus the most volunteer hours and funds raised during the year win a prestigious prize: the Golden Briefcase.

In 2016, C4C’s 32nd year, the University of Southern California won the coveted first prize. The Special Olympics is the main beneficiary of the organization’s proceeds, but schools can also choose local charities for which to raise funds as well.
