Research project
BRIEF:
To design a space where:
one wall has to be translucent
second wall has to be a shelf
the entrance has to be separated from the main space
The function of the space is free.
The aim of the project is to show the use of different materials.
According to the brief I had no limits in choosing my main conceptual idea and inspiration. I decided to start with the mind mapping from the word "Photography" as that is where I get my inspiration most of the times.
I used the words England and Neoclassicism for the research on materials that can be applied for the project.
This image was made by me with the multi exposure function on a film camera. I have chosen this picture as an inspiration for the further design.
Using both my research and the photo I came to the idea of creating an installation where this picture is transformed into 3d. As multi exposure consists of layers of images, I divided this picture into different layers. The first layer is sculpture. The cloth of the sculpture is the second layer and for this reason the furniture is covered with fabric. The third layer is everything that surrounds the sculpture. As it is a quite abstract image of greenery on the image and has no clear shape, I decided to create the organic pattern with the shape of wings.
According to the brief the entrance area is separated by the patterned  screen , the walls are translucent and the wall that divides the room is a shelf.
