The photo was taken in August 10th, 2015. The scene takes place in my neighborhood, in the central area, where there is a huge pine-tree. The photo also was taken in the morning before school. In the photograph there is a homeless dog with a very sad expression in his face.
The dog is in the middle of the picture, leaning in the floor, behind him we can see the tree, a part of the tree. At the top there are some big branches of the pine. In the background we can see a few houses and cars. In the foreground there are some green-yellowish bushes and a white street bluff.
I guess I took the photo because it gives me an opportunity to talk about one of the themes that most matter for me: nature’s abuses. I can see that the dog have a pretty sad-worried expression in his face, we have to take in consideration that the dog doesn’t have a house, either food. When I look at this photo I feel very sad and mad, and frustrated because I can't adopt the dog.
I met the dog 1 year ago, one day he just came to my grandpa’s house and it became and undesirable and constant visitant, progressively he became friend of my cousins and even of my granddad. His no-formal name is ‘peluche’, he’s very happy and careful, and he likes a lot the rice. The problem begins when a neighbor informs to my grandfather that he was barking way too much at night, also he brought down a motorcycle, so he had to go. All my life I’ve always had pets, for what I’m very connected to them, my first and most beloved dog was killed by a bus and the others were adopted and then gave to other people, which left me very sad.
I do know people with this kind of feeling to the animals, so I’m sure that other persons feel like me, sad and frustrated when someone abandon an animal, a dog or a cat. So mad when someone killed horribly an animal or they just abuse them. Even though some persons have been imprisoned for this kind of acts, some of them are just killing more and more animals each day, putting them in microwaves or hitting them with bats till death.
Since I’m a kid I hate this sort of persons. Persons without brain or compassion for the others. Animals are not at “our level”, of course they’re not, they are much high. An animal could love deeper than a human, have better senses or even better ways to communicate between each other, just look at dolphins or bats. If everyone would put a bit more effort in trying to know the animals or just let them live calmly in their habitats we would live in a better world, more harmonic and not distressed, just like in the beginning, when we weren’t here.
This photograph inspires me to continue helping animals, all of them. I could help joining protection of animals’ groups or talking to my friends about ways for take care of different species. If would be able to be a biologist or an activist, I’d like to empower people and specially the kids to take care of their pets and adopt street-dogs instead of buy new puppies, also search for strategies for change their lives.
