UNDULATION EXPANSION: A TRANSFORMABLE SCREEN

December 2014
Group members: Peter Lee and Edison Jeeves Lee

The wall explores the movement of water and expansion to create fluid motions throughout the wall, making action and reaction gestures across the wall assembly. The dynamic surface is triggered by the movement of a hand cranked automation sine wave mounted at the back of the screen. The wooden surface is composed of 53 panels that all react to the spinning wheels at the back, letting light in through the holes penetrated in each surface. The intension of this
assignment was to create a movable surface that could potentially move a transparent screen, thus creating an interactive facade. The hooks protruding outwards offers the user to add a transparent layer to the movable wall assembly.
The prototype was designed using Rhinoceros 3D and CNC software.
