The action takes place around the thirty-second century, but the book itself was written in 1920, in the era of totalitarianism, collectivism and constructivism. In art, this is the era of Meyerhold, Tatlin, Kandinsky, Lisitsky, Malevich, and the Futurists. The heyday of architecture, theater and cinema. The films Aelita (1924) and Metropolis (1927) are released on the screens.
The cover of the novel "We" usually depicts the Tower of the Third International or the Tower of Babel and compositions in the style of Filonov or Malevich. For this project, a dynamic composition was chosen - a reflection of opposite worlds with an impersonal silhouette of the main character between them. Anxiety. Conflict. Destruction. The conflict of the rational and the wild in the surrounding reality and in the main character. The compositional center is the main character's hand, reminding of his wild nature.
At the stage of sketches, markers were used to make simple compositions of lines and spots in the style of suprematism. Cracks on the glass diverging from the center have been added and the small wooden house looks like a broken reflection. Architectural elements are drawn separately. Next, the composition was rendered in CG and, taking into account all edits, searches were performed in tone and with the addition of color.
