La vendemmia nel Sud Italia è una tradizione antica e ricca di significati, che coinvolge famiglie, comunità e territori. La vendemmia è il momento in cui si raccolgono i frutti della vite, che poi si trasformano in mosto e, infine, in vino.
The grape harvest in Southern Italy is an ancient tradition rich in meaning, which involves families, communities and territories. The harvest is the moment in which the fruits of the vine are harvested, which are then transformed into must and, finally, into wine.
Nel corso dei secoli, intere generazioni di agricoltori più o meno esperti hanno visto l’uva trasformarsi in effervescente mosto e poi in estasiante bevanda: un percorso che parte in quel periodo dell’anno in cui le giornate iniziano ad accorciarsi e le prime piogge sono un segnale inequivocabile della fine della bella stagione.
Over the centuries, entire generations of more or less experienced farmers have seen the grapes turn into effervescent must and then into an ecstatic drink: a path that starts at that time of year when the days begin to get shorter and the first rains are an unequivocal sign of the end of summer.
Nelle varie epoche la vendemmia è stata una pratica agricola ricca di significati, capace di aggregare le persone e di dare impulso al tessuto socio-economico.
In the various eras, the harvest has been an agricultural practice rich in meaning, capable of bringing people together and giving impetus to the socio-economic fabric.
Come si legge in alcuni antichi manuali latini di agronomia, c’era fermento sociale già dai preparativi, che cominciavano circa quaranta giorni prima della raccolta dell’uva.
As we read in some ancient Latin manuals of agronomy, there was social ferment already from the preparations, which began about forty days before the grape harvest.
Alla raccolta partecipavano uomini, donne e bambini che si riunivano nei vigneti già alle prime luci dell’alba per lavorare tutti insieme e poi all’ora di pranzo si banchettava in allegria.
The harvest was attended by men, women and children who gathered in the vineyards already at the first light of dawn to work together and then at lunchtime they feasted in joy.
La vendemmia nel Sud Italia ha origini molto antiche, che risalgono ai tempi dei Romani e anche prima. I Romani celebravano la vendemmia con feste e riti propiziatori, sotto la protezione di Giove, il re degli dei.
The harvest in Southern Italy has very ancient origins, dating back to Roman times and even earlier. The Romans celebrated the harvest with festivals and propitiatory rites, under the protection of Giove, the king of the gods.
La vendemmia era un’occasione di festa, di condivisione e di allegria, ma anche di rispetto per la natura e per il lavoro dei contadini.
The harvest was an occasion for celebration, sharing and joy, but also for respect for nature and for the work of the farmers.
La vendemmia è, quindi, una storia di passione, di cultura e di poesia, che si rinnova ogni anno con il ciclo delle stagioni. E' una testimonianza della bellezza e della ricchezza del Sud Italia, che merita di essere conosciuta e valorizzata.
The harvest is, therefore, a story of passion, culture and poetry, which is renewed every year with the cycle of the seasons. It is a testimony of the beauty and richness of Southern Italy, which deserves to be known and valued.
La "vite" rappresenta la celebrazione della natura provvidenziale.
Vite come vita e, dunque, festa di sentimenti, rispetto per quel lavoro che dona frutto.
Il sole e la dedizione dei contadini sono la nutrizione più importante per i vigneti.
I nonni della tradizione guardano alla vite con amore e ne seguono tutto il suo sviluppo, gioendo per ogni chicco di uva che osservano con sguardo amorevole.
The "vines" represents the celebration of providential nature.
Vines as life and, therefore, a feast of feelings, respect for that work that bears fruit.
The sun and the dedication of the farmers are the most important nutrition for the vineyards.
Traditional grandparents look at the vines with love and follow its entire development, rejoicing for every grape they observe with a loving gaze.
In un bicchiere di vino, dunque, non vi è solo il nettare degli dei, ma la storia, la tradizione l'essenza degli agricoltori del Sud Italia.
In a glass of wine, therefore, there is not only the nectar of the gods, but the history, the tradition and the essence of the farmers of Southern Italy.
