Dreamforce 2022 was not only the 20th anniversary of the Salesforce conference, but it was the full return to an in-person conference post-2020 pandemic. The Marketing Cloud team needed to make a splash with our direct-mail kit for the loyal #momentmarketer community.
Among a sea of great ideas, my idea of utilizing the RetroViewer as a means to nod to our tentpole topic—"moments"—would land a feature spot among the goodies. The RetroViewer is a timeless item that is likely that invokes nostalgia, the return to a place of creating great memories that would be Dreamforce 2022 in this case. This was also a chance to tell a story, having the community follow along with Brandy as she got ready to return to Dreamforce and the Marketing Cloud Keynote in spectacular fashion. This would be the first of 2 instances I was granted permission to create original illustrations involving the Salesforce character roster.
Working alongside copywriter, Trevor Lisa, we set the scene as I storyboarded how the whole scenario would play out before we got the executive nods to move forward with final art. This would include 7 distinct images to fit on a RetroViewer wheel.
