GKG1293 Project 2 - Public Health Infographic E-Booklet
The use of infographics in public health has become increasingly popular over the year. For this project, we are required to choose a noncommunicable disease (NCD) as our case study, namely cardiovascular disease, cancer or diabetes. Once we have selected the case study, we conducted visual analysis related to the disease in the form of an infographic e-booklet.
Chosen Topic
For my public health infographic e-booklet, I plan to do a case study on cardiovascular disease, specifically Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). PAD is a type of cardiovascular disease that occurs in the human arms or legs. This disease is defined by the blockage of the vessels that carry blood from the heart to the limbs. I chose to conduct a case study regarding this noncommunicable disease due to the lack of mainstream infographics touching upon this topic.
Moodboard/Visual Research
I plan to use pastel colors within the range of red to show elements of PAD which specifically focuses upon the artery, where blood flow occurs. I also plan to use a minimalistic art style to showcase my research in a way that is both simple to read and pleasing to the eye. For example, the use of an anatomical infographic is suitable to depict the effects of PAD in the human leg and arm.

Idea Development
Final Result
As the finalized look for my public health infographic e-booklet, I managed to make use of many visual strategies by focusing on information hierarchy, anatomical infographics and icon illustrations. This is because I would like readers to be able to be interested throughout the entire reading process and also digest information easily despite it not being talked about much in mainstream media. I made use of fonts such as Elephant for header texts and Berlin Sans FB Demi Bold for body texts so that information may stand out visually as well as blend in with the overall minimalistic aesthetic.
