The extravagance of youth
This project was developed in the second semester of the Fashion Design course, and consists of a womenswear collection based around the youthful energy of the Japanese district; Harajuku.
Collection mood board
Harajuku was the starting point for this collection, where the extravagance of its streets, especially what the generation of youth has to offer in fashion, is what brings all of the attention.
Inspirational board
To start with this project research about Harajuku and its history was developed, leading into an inspirational mood board as well as a target audience analysis with its corresponding board. After the colors of the collection were chosen according to the previous studies.
To create every look, moulage and shape exercises were made using shapes out of the theme board and bringing them into the mannequin after.

What was intended to represent is the history of the area and how it evolved into a neighborhood based on the mixture between occidental and oriental culture resulting in a never-seen-before display. That fusion ended up giving a sensation of contrast to these two cultures and being eye-catching because of that.

In this type of project, the aim was to represent meaningful elements that are part of the Harajuku's scene. Those components are the unique identity of youth and the chaos as a result of the mixture between cultures that ultimately finds balance.These characteristics are not just present in the clothes but, in the whole process, including; the conceptualization of the garment, the making and finally the photoshoot.
The making of the prototype
In this type of project, the aim was to represent meaningful elements that are part of the Harajuku's scene through the conceptualization of the garment, the making, and finally the photoshoot. Additionally, it was made a prototype and a final garment to use in the shooting that shows the unique identity of youth and the chaos as a result of the mixture between cultures that ultimately finds balance.
Finally, the collection concluded with a photoshoot using a garment made out of the fashion sketch, taking into consideration the mood of the collection.
Within the photoshoot, components such as makeup, hairstyle, acting, lighting, styling, and casting, can also transmit the sensations that are intended to be delivered through the collection.
