Kevin Murphy's profile

Treating Patients at MindSet

Based in San Diego, California, Kevin T. Murphy, MD, attended Purdue University and earned a degree in neurophysiology. Through MindSet Treatment Center, his psychiatry and neuroscience practice in San Diego, Kevin T. Murphy, MD, offers treatment with PeakLogic, a software program that offers personalized repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (PrTMS®) to treat conditions of the brain.

Treatment with PrTMS® takes place in three phases. First, health providers measure and evaluate the brain health of a patient, collecting data with an EEG that logs activity from 19 separate areas of the brain. Additional neurocognitive diagnostics and tests provide qualitative data.

With both quantitative and qualitative data on hand, qualified PrTMS® providers proceed to the next step of analyzing and developing a treatment plan for the patient. The treatment aims to reset the synchronicity of brain waves.

Finally, providers treat the patient according to their treatment plan. Sessions take place five days per week. The first step repeats every five sessions to assess the patient's progress. Generally, 36 treatments are needed to achieve the best results but a physician will judge the amount of time the treatment should continue.
