John Macoviak MD MBA's profile

HMS Publishes Alumni Magazine 3 Times Per Year

Dr. John Macoviak MD MBA earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University, graduating magna cum laude. After completing the first successful heart transplant in Washington, D.C., Dr. John Macoviak served as an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, which publishes the Harvard Medicine alumni magazine three times each year.

Published since the founding of Harvard Medical School in 1927, the Harvard Medicine alumni magazine presents ideas and research from the school's students and graduates. The school prints the magazine in winter, spring, and autumn each year, bringing attention to the work of both alumni and student communities.

Each issue of the publication covers five different topics. The awards and achievements section highlights students, alumni, and faculty who have been recognized for their work, such as William G. Kaelin Jr., a Harvard Medical School professor who won the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Meanwhile, the care delivery section provides information on recent developments in the health care field. Education, research, and the Harvard Medical School community round out the rest of the topics included in each publication.
