Typographic Redesign - Coquette

Coquette is a special font created by Mark Simonson in the 90's. French script and geometric sans-serif styles are important elements made up the Coquette font we see today. It embodies the sassy, novelty and familiarity.
This project used Coquette as an inspiration and redesign it from its original pinky style. The word 'Coquette' originated from French which means a woman who flirts.

I took the blue sky color inspiration from a passage Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert that I read.
"Malgré ses airs évaporés (c'était le mot des bourgeoises d'Yonville), Emma pourtant ne paraissait pas joyeuse..."
“In spite of her vapourish airs (as the housewives of Yonville called them), Emma, all the same, never seemed gay,”
This short passage describes her reaction after her lover Leon left her. She was in great despair. I imagined her sorrows evaporated into the sky along with her soul and they are just like the grayish blue sky color that I represented in this work.
