DIO as in-驾, the idea for the name came from the Hebrew word דיו which kids say when they are riding a horse.
DIO 驾 is a rocking saddle stool made for children between the age of 4-7.

The rocking stool is made from transparent Perspex plastic sheet and combined with rubber sheet for the friction arias- seat and handles.
This stool is a 4th generation of design, originality started as a grownup saddle stool from wood and throughout the process was changed to a children's product.

The process was very interesting mostly because I learned very carefully how to create a seat using this folding method which was surprisingly very complicated and took many attempts to get it right.
It was in my college years when i first started this project and back then i was required to design a stool made from at least 70% wood material and that is the main reason it looked like this in the beginning.
I consider the first design to be good, but I was always eager to continue this design and when I first came to China and joined KUNSO studio I got my chance to continue this product and perfect it- transforming the idea in to a rocking stool and target it to be for kids.
only after the third design model i realized i was working with the wrong material- Wood was not the correct answer for this design, the method was to complicated and to expensive.
Changing the wood to plastic opened many new opportunist in the aspect of design, Creating a much greater range of colors, giving better structural strength and most important- cheaper production.
