The Things I Finally Got Rid Of

People tie their experiences to the objects surrounding them.
People create relics that accompany them througout life to remind them what's important.
Personal objects shed a light on the various aspects of someone‘s character.
People see them as a reflection of both their past and present.
Whenever you try to clear stuff out you stumble over these things and think to yourself:

“I can‘t throw this away...“

All these artifacts are filled with my memories.
These artifacts I have photographed.

And then I threw them away.
Throughout this series I have been finding out what remains when the object itself was thrown away. I found out that the fascination I have about the objects is possible to be shown in a photograph. And I found out which memories really matter.

What do others see in the images?
Does the spectator identify their own possessions which they‘re unable to discard?
Do my personal artifacts become collective memories through their presentation?

Can you see what you have experienced?

Can you see what formed you into the person you are today?
