ECOVACS ROBOTICS announces a new free update of its firmware, available in the coming days. It allows vacuum cleaners DEEBOT 900 and DEEBOT OZMO 930 to simultaneously clean and map the environment at each program launch. Thus, robots can constantly reorient themselves in their environment. In addition, the DEEBOT OZMO 930 now cleans the floor with its wipe without having to map beforehand.

The Deebot Ozmo 930 is a high-end robot vacuum cleaner that is appreciated for its design, intelligence and very complete equipment. However, even if its price seems completely justified given its qualities, it does not cause us the same blow of heart that we had for the Deebot R95MKII. No doubt the fault of his weaknesses identified during the tests.
After testing the excellent Deebot R95MKII Evocacs , we were eager to evaluate the performance of the brand's new high-end model, the Deebot Ozmo 930. A device that incorporates the best technos manufacturer (laser rangefinder, connection Wi-Fi, interactive mapping, etc.) and further enhances the soil washing functions.
Like the Deebot R95MKII, the Ozmo 930 includes a Wi-Fi connection. Remember that this allows you to control the robot remotely, but also and above all to act on the cartography he created from the room. Strengths we had already enjoyed on the previous model.
The novelty is rather the washing part of this 2-in-1 robot vacuum. If the Deebot R95MKII already integrated a support to fix a cleaning cloth, the Ozmo 930 also has a larger container, which can contain water that will be used to wash a hard floor (tiles, linoleum, etc.). Good news, it is not essential to buy a specific product sold at a high price, tap water is enough. Better, you can dilute a little soil cleaner and, why not, add a few drops of essential oil to perfume a room.
Anyway, filling this tray and attaching the cleaning wipe is a breeze. At no time did we spill water. In contrast, washable wipes, called "mops" have, they, a very particular form. Once both liveries are used, it will take about 20 euros to buy a lot of three.
An amazing silence
From the start of the vacuum cleaner, we are very pleasantly surprised by his silence. We measured 58 dB maximum, at a distance of 50 cm from the vacuum cleaner. A good point in favor of the latter which also adjusts its suction power depending on the coating. On a carpet, for example, it uses the max power.
On the other hand, do not expect much of the washing function. The robot vacuum does not apply any force in the washing, this function comes down to the equivalent of a passage of wet wipe on the ground. Nevertheless it can do service on a floor not too dirty that we would just dust a little. The concern is that during this washing step, the wheels of the robot vacuum cleaner leave traces of their passage on the wet ground.
On the side of the more traditional cleaning, it's better. Despite the low suction power, the result is suitable with the various dirt of the daily (crumb of bread, rusk, dust, etc.). The two small rotating brushes at the front of the robot allow cleaning along the walls and skirting boards and, in general, bringing the dirt back to the central brush. Brush that is also not very wide, forcing the vacuum cleaner to make more passage.
More boring, while the Deebot R95MKII handled the furniture in our living room very well, the Ozmo 930 got tangled with the brushes several times. First in the curtains of our French windows. Then in the electric wire of a luminaire. Finally, he climbed on one foot of the chaise longue of our sofa ... without being able to come back down. His cries of distress (in English), forced us to relaunch a little further, before he goes back to the same trouble a few minutes later ... heartbreaking!
Fortunately, it is possible to create virtual barriers on the Deebot mobile app. To draw a red line or a rectangle of the finger on the cartography is to simulate respectively a wall not to cross or a forbidden zone. Which avoids the hiccups.
Discreet and very aesthetic
Ecovacs does not revolutionize the form-factor of a robot vacuum cleaner and yet the Ozmo 930 is, in our opinion, a beautiful device. This is a stupid detail: the choice of a chassis with shades very studied. Black with brushed steel streaks for fairing and touches of blue on the laser range finder.
Nothing revolutionary and yet it pays. The small charging base also adopts a small format that makes it quite discreet. An appreciable detail if the base is installed in a living room.
