Pedestrian area - Botosani, Romania

The request was to give a new face to a pedestrian area in a small Romanian town: the project had been already done by somebody else when I received it from the city hall, and I had to work with existing elements.
Since the project was being realized with european funds, the restrictions were to only deal with tiling elements - so, no real urban furniture was financed. The area had a large number of old flower holders, made from concrete, too low to be used for sitting, while otherwise lacking any kind of benches or places to sit, rather unsuitable for a pedestrian area. I chose to transform the flower holders in places to sit around small landscaping elements and to remake the tiling and fountains.

The first photographs show the previous look, then execution in progress and my suggestions. Sadly the constructor chose to ignore most of the project when choosing materials and executing details and the ending result did not receive my approval.
