Imaginary Contact

In this instillation I attempted to create a scene expressing the Lacanian "Imaginary" and it's relationship to sexuality. The imaginary as described by Lacan is thought without the restriction from language, something indescribable. Sexuality is openly discussed as something beyond explanation. It is based on impulse and abstract desire. The nature of the glory hole is enigmatic to outsiders, so much so that many are disgusted by the concept. My work was an attempt to understand this impulse without restricting it's meaning with language.
The Jefferson Bible in Bordeaux
Inspired by Jefferson's treatment of the Bible, I painted over everything untrue from The Book by Neiman Marcususing their own seasonal color, Bordeaux. The exaggeratedand ridiculous posses of the models are highlighted through their omission.
