Moiré: A digital zoetrope

The aim of this exercise was to build a device that works with the recreation of the movement from the perspective of artifacts from the late nineteenth century, as the zoetrope and other stroboscopic artifacts that became precursors of cinema.
My proposal was to work with the Moiré pattern, a classic optical effect, which consist in an interference pattern which is formed when two gratings lines are superposed at an angle , or when such gratings have slightly different sizes.
The resulting device follows the traditional form zoetrope created by William George Horner in 1834 , but using the illusion of Moiré pattern superimposing two surfaces ; one inner cylindrical surface that rotates with a figure on itself (sun), and a circular grid black striations surface carefully designed to synchronize with five keyframes, thus, just five movements produce a loop effect.
