Split-tone/Black and White

Split-tone After

First I used the HSL/Grayscale panel to convert to grayscale. The boats were a little washed out so I adjusted clarity, exposure, highlights, whites and blacks in the basic panel to get a better look. Next I used the Split Toning panel and adjusted the Highlights Hue and Saturation to get some good tints.

Before
Grayscale After

I made picture black and white using the HSL/Grayscale panel and clicking convert to grayscale. The image looked a little flat and dark so I went to the basics panel and started by increasing exposure.  Next I moved up the contrast slider to give it a little life. I then adjusted the white and black points making sure they didn’t clip. Next I sharpened the castle using the adjustment brush to bring out the stones and cracks a little bit more.  The shadows were a bit dark so I adjusted the shadows slider some.
