Adolescents often encounter experience several challenges regarding their appearance and how other adolescents and adults perceive them. This often determines whether they experience low or high self-esteem.

As a guardian or parent, you should make your adolescent see that they are enough and complete and should not try to compare themselves with their peers. Adolescents often want to impress and compare their academic performance, material possessions, and approval with their contemporaries. Doing this impacts their self-esteem negatively.
Also, it is important to make adolescents realize they are accepted regardless of their successes and failures, so you must acknowledge their efforts even more than their outcomes. For instance, instead of emphasizing your adolescent’s god or a bad grade, commend them for their effort to study.

Adolescents usually learn from their parent’s actions or inactions. So, to instill confidence and self-esteem in them, it is important that you mode the self-confidence yourself. Make them see how you handle challenges and talk to them about instances you have had to be brave and confident.
