SJ Virtual Reality Training
SJ is a Swedish railway operator that invests heavily in modernizing their procedures of hiring and retaining staff.
Between the years 2017 and 2019 I was the lead developer on one of their ambitious investments into VR and how to provide training to new and existing onboard staff.
The application takes place on a multitude of different train models and educates the users on routine procedures such as brake checks, manual overrides of pressurized doors, handling wheelchair lifts, etc.
When the project was initiated the available VR technology was in it's earliest stages, but as new technology arrived we implemented more and more new technologies. Among the technologies that we retrofitted into the application was eye-tracking for validating that the user inspected the correct elements, we also implemented hand tracking to be able to track that when the user made hand signals to the driver, they made them correctly.
