I am the Graphic Designer for Women of Color Creatives (WOCC), a student organization at Temple University. Lots of people loved the flyer I made for our annual art show, so I wanted to include it in this portfolio. Unfortunately, I believe I could have done better with a few things with it, but I understand I am still improving with every piece I make and I wanted to. I wanted to include this because WOCC is a very big part of my career as a student here.
This illustration was displayed at WOCC's annual art show, titled "AMALGAMATION".

I wanted to view the theme "it takes a village" a bit differently. Rather than viewing it as a village raising a child, I wanted to view it as the experiences I've had growing up. I grew up part of the generation who first experienced the online world as children; nobody knew what they were doing with the internet and I was given unsupervised access to it. Because of this I've experienced things I shouldn't have, and my hyperfixation on the internet and virtual worlds kept me from detaching. The predatory figure holding the girl, it is an amalgamation of my village.
