BeatBoxer
Custom Midi-based Controller
BeatBoxer, a sound mixing device, exploits a minimal user interface to create a variety of musical compositions. Pairing artists with the online software Audiotool, BeatBoxer offers up to 24 unique sounds and instruments alongside the ability to adjust panning, volume, and much more.
BeatBoxer houses a custom dual-sided printed circuit board (PCB) which allows for the utilization of an Arduino Pro Micro. The Pro Micro controls 8 light-up pushbuttons, 3 rotary potentiometers, and a sliding potentiometer. These components create an interactive and easy-to-use experience for each artist.
For the performance aspect of this project, a sound reactive LED-visualization was created through the programming language Processing. This visualization depicts fireworks, and as music gets louder, more fireworks are displayed.
