Agile Planning Poker Cards

Agile Planning Poker Cards

My employer, BrainRain, needed a pack of cards for Agile training activities. Some printable cards had already been available, but we wanted a unique set to make the brand more recognizable.
Planning Poker is a tool for estimating tasks in teams. People don’t usually agree on timing of tasks; moreover, estimates often prove to be incorrect. That is why, Scrum offers to estimate tasks as they relate to one another instead of any time or space measures. You don’t need to predict how many hours a task may take; you only need to estimate whether it is more complex than other tasks. The team is more likely to agree on such a relative estimate, too.
It is common in Scrum to measure the complexity in some units that are far from developments but intuitively understood by everyone, such as beverages, automobile brands, animals, etc. We’ve decided to use fruits, because they were neutral enough for our diverse training audience.
These objects come together with a numerical progression like the Fibonacci Sequence or Power of Two. The numbers are needed for players to grasp the rules more quickly. Hence, they are visible enough for the players but less prominent than the fruits.
To have a planning poker session, each team member needs to have a deck of cards. The players hold the cards face down. Scrum Master reads out the task. Then, each team member picks a card corresponding to the complexity of the task as they see it and places it face up. When all the estimates are visible, the players discuss them together to make a final estimate.
Our training attendees loved the new colourful design.
May all the tasks be a piece of cake to you!
