Systems of Design

Below is a series of visual representations of the systems of design.

These include several of the ways it is possible to lay out text. Text often starts out with a white background and an infinite stream of black horizontal lines of Times New Roman. It is up to the designer to break that pattern and create something new and exciting.
Cover Image
Radial (Horizontal lines of type stream out of circles)
Hierarchical (some letters or words having hierarchy over others)
Column (Vertical pipes of text)
Transitional (Lines of text overlap, or create a zany pattern)
Axial (Text is on an axis or line)
Dilitational (Text seems to mimic the shape of a circle)
Modular (each letter or line takes up their own space on a plane)
Manuscript (a series of letters or words condensed in a rectangular shape)
