I use art as a way to look at the world differently. Art inspires me to keep finding those wonderful moments of surprise that are found when one looks deeply into yourself and the world around you. Art to me is a great mastery; it’s about self-discovery and the inspiration that comes from that curiosity and mystery.
As a graphic artist I like to start with research--whether it is images, magazines, books, publications, Internet, or simply the world around me. Sketching, ideations, layouts, grids all come next. It is from here that my creative process develops, only to expand into an ever-growing ideation of the multitude of ideas that are possible.
My preference in art includes simple, clean designs that are organized, economical and symmetrical. I prefer to let the organization and lines of the type to lead you though the design. I feel like the expression of my design lies in simplicity.
My vision of the future is always changing; I have a passion for cooking and would love to someday enjoy working with food packaging or menu design. Not to say that this is the only thing I would do, but every creative process I go though leads me closer to being a better designer. In the words of Scott Adams, “Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” That is where I feel like I am today--I make lots of mistakes, but I am learning which ones to keep. Read Less
