Originally a fine arts student, Wenhui Li studied for three years at the at the Affiliated Art school of the Guangzhou Institute of Fine Arts. Her professional interest in Chinese traditional line drawing has influenced her and led to the development of her jewellery style. She has been designing jewellery since 2008. At that time, she found herself deeply attracted by curved lines and forms such as the musical instrument the lute, the architecture designed by Zaha Hadid, and all kinds of organic forms. Li believes that “Curves signify liveliness and activity. They are full of rhythm and diversity and also give people a sense of pleasure.”

Like an unschooled style artist in the jewellery field, her passion also led her to experimenting with diverse materials; she is willing to try different elements such as wood, plastic, leather, stones, resin, and salt. For her latest collection, she even tried to incorporate her painting skills into her jewellery pieces. She believes the value of jewellery not only depends on the high cost of materials, but is also reflected in the designer’s imagination and that of the person who possesses and wears it. Read Less
