My name is Vanessa Noe—I am a graphic designer, typographer and illustrator.
After earning my degree in Advertising from Quinnipiac University, I was ready and eager to make my mark as a creative individual. I was offered a job at Mitchell as their Marketing Coordinator. My position was heavy on the design-work: newsletters, brochures, web content, magazine ads, however, it was certainly not limited to that, for my job title embodied a much larger scope of creative projects. I played the part of ‘project manager’ when Mitchell built a cutting-edge flash website from the ground up. I was the ‘interior designer’ for their brand new million-dollar convenience store. I took great pride in each of these projects. The owners, with whom I worked closely with on a daily basis, put a lot of faith, not only in me as a person, but also in my eye for design. The experience I garnered as a result of my time at Mitchell was truly invaluable because in order to succeed there, I needed to familiarize myself with graphic design oriented programs, particularly, Adobe Creative Suite. And in doing so, I was hooked. It was as if my inner artist had narrowed her focus from simply creating any type of visually based art into graphic design. Since, I have spent hours upon hours studying it, seeing what other artists are doing, taking online tutorials learning new techniques, entering design contests, taking on freelance clients. And in January of 2013 I landed my dream job as Art Director for teamDigital, a digital promotions agency. It is invigorating and challenging all at once. I can say with certainty that I have finally found my calling in life and am proud to say that I do this for a living.
The saying holds true, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. Read Less
